With a quick wit, great sense of timing, an engaging personality, Matt Gallant brings a vivacious energy and a strong sense of individuality to all of his work. Armed with natural talent, he shined for five seasons as the host of the Animal Planet’s popular series The Planet’s Funniest Animals. Matt recently hosted ABC's primetime reality show American Inventor. Born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Westport, Connecticut, Gallant opted for sports rather than performing. Gallant attended the University of Rhode Island where he majored in communications, studied theatre and envisioned a career as a sportscaster. Gallant soon began work however, as a page for NBC in New York City, which ultimately ushered him in to the world of show business. He hired an agent and immediately began landing roles in a string of successful commercials. Gallant’s big break soon followed in the form of not one, but two jobs for MTV. He hosted the live show, Hangin’ with MTV, and the magazine-style program for teens called Like We Care. While studying acting with such famous groups as The Groundlings, Joanne Baron, Chicago City Limits Improv, and with John Kirby, Gallant continued to add credits to his resume. His other work includes hosting a succession of popular shows such as X-Treme Energy, for ESPN2; NBC’s Friday Night Video; syndicated teen show, PETV; ABC’s Pranks; and FOX’S Not Just the News. Gallant was the commencement speaker at the University of Rhode Island in 2004, and received an honorary Doctorate of the Arts from the University for his fundraising work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Matt has been a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation for over nine years, and holds a yearly charity-bowling event (Matt Gallant’s Bowling for Wishes) to raise both awareness and funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles. Matt Gallant is also a Contemporary figurative sculptor whose work can be seen at the Wendt Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA. |
